Sampath Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Hashindra Silva as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director, strengthening its Board with an experienced business professional whose expertise spans multiple commercial sectors.
Mr. Silva brings extensive experience in Sri Lanka’s automotive industry, vehicle after-sales services, motor spare parts, hospitality and property development sectors. His professional background includes strategic planning, business development, financial oversight, commercial management and corporate governance.
He currently holds Executive Director positions at Indra Traders (Pvt) Limited, Indra Service Park (Pvt) Limited, Indra Motor Spares (Pvt) Limited and Indra Property Development (Pvt) Limited.
In addition, he serves as a Non-Executive Director at Braybrooke Residential Properties (Pvt) Limited and Indra Hotels and Resorts (Pvt) Limited.
Throughout his professional career, Mr. Silva has been involved in strategic decision-making, business expansion and the development of commercial partnerships within Sri Lanka and international markets. His experience also includes assessing new business opportunities and overseeing financial and commercial operations, with an emphasis on sustainable growth and organisational performance.
His educational qualifications combine an engineering background with advanced business management studies. After completing his education at Trinity College, Kandy, he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom. He subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University, also in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Silva is actively involved in several professional and business organisations. His memberships include the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE), the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) and the Vehicle Importers Association of Sri Lanka (VIASL).
He also served as a Committee Member of the Young Directors Forum (YDF) during the 2024/2025 period, reflecting his participation in professional networks focused on business leadership and corporate governance.
